Gold and Cork Blog Hop with Tombow and DCWV! March 28, 2015

Gold-Cork-Hop

Hi and Welcome to the Gold and Cork Blog Hop with Tombow USA and DCWV! We have 2 days full with gorgeous projects using GOLD and CORK! You probably came here from Karen Jiles’s Blog but if you happened to stumble across my blog go to the  DCWV Blog to start!

For my post I created these lettered paper canvases for a super quick home decor accent!

Gather your materials for the Lettered Canvas Panels: I used the DCWV Gilded Stack, the wood pages and the lettered panels. Tombow products include the Tombow Xtreme Adhesive, Blending Mister (filled with water), Dual Brush Colors 476, 346 and 373, and the new Xtreme Mounting Putty.

Cut the lettered panels from the DCWV Gilded Stack. I used the brush tip of the marker and applied color over the gilded lettering. To blend the edges, simply spray with the Blending Mister. Let it dry and then repeat for a nice saturation of color to make the lettering pop!

Create the paper canvases using the wood patterned paper from the DCWV Gilded Stack. The paper panels make a very strong and durable dimensional canvas. You can make them all the same depth, or create different depths like I did for added interest. The following sizes are based on a 4″ x 6″ lettered panel with a 1/2″ boarder. For a 3/4″ deep canvas, cut your paper 6.5″ x 8.5″ and score at 3/4″ along all the edges. For a 1″ deep canvas, cut your paper 9″ x 7″ and score at 1″ along all the edges. For a 2″ deep canvas, cut your paper 9″ x 11″ and score at 2″ along all the edges. For each canvas, you will need two paper panels, a top panel and a bottom panel. For the top panel, cut the corners as shown in the photo above. Fold along all scores and adhere the corners together as shown using the Tombow Xtreme Adhesive

For the bottom panel (which is cut to size and scored exactly like the top panel) cut your corners as shown in the above photo. Slip the bottom panel into the top panel. It holds together very well, if needed, add a little adhesive on the sides to hold together. Here is a photo of a finished paper canvas. The beautiful DCWV paper makes it look like a wooden canvas!!!

Adhere the lettered and colored panels to the the paper canvases. I added a gilded boarder panel as well. The finished pieces are attached to the wall using the Xtreme Mounting Putty. I also placed some objects on the tops for accent which were also attached using the mounting putty. Seriously, I can’t imagine living without this putty! So great for hanging items without marring your walls and to keep objects in place!
